01

What is SlabCollar?

SlabCollar is an EPDM rubber compression-fit seal for a 4″ Sch 40 radon pipe where it passes through a cored concrete slab. It's four seals in one part (one at the slab surface, two in the hole and one on the pipe), and it holds the pipe in place.

02

What size core bit do I need for SlabCollar?

A standard 5″ (127 mm) bit. Every bit cuts a little differently, but any good 5″ bit works with SlabCollar, SDS or diamond core, and a rough hole is fine.

03

What pipe does SlabCollar fit?

SlabCollar fits 4″ Sch 40 PVC and ABS, which have the same 114.3 mm outside diameter. For 3″ pipe, use a 4×3 reducer. Other sizes are coming soon, so tell us what you need through the contact page.

04

How do you install SlabCollar?

Cut the hole, drop SlabCollar in, and push the pipe in from above until it stops on the internal ledge. There's no sealant, no cure time and no tools beyond the bit. You can download the install guide on the Specifications page.

05

Do I need caulk or sealant with SlabCollar?

No, not in a concrete slab. In a block wall, SlabCollar may need a small amount of sealant, depending on the depth.

06

Does SlabCollar support the weight of the pipe?

Yes. The internal ledge supports over 200 lb. It stops the pipe about 2″ below the floor surface, so in a normal slab its end sits inside the hole.

07

Is SlabCollar airtight?

Yes, when it's properly installed. SlabCollar has been used on hundreds of installs and has sealed every time so far.

08

Can SlabCollar go through a sump lid or cleanout cover?

Yes. SlabCollar fits plastic or wood lids up to 3/8″ thick, such as sump lids, cleanouts and backwater valve covers. Cut a 5″ hole with a wood hole saw. The top lip seals on the lid, and the shoulder underneath keeps it from sliding out.

09

Can SlabCollar be removed for service?

Yes. SlabCollar is pressure fit only, so it pulls out and goes back in.

10

Is SlabCollar fire-rated?

No, SlabCollar is not fire-rated. Where a fire rating is required, run a bead of fire-rated caulk over the exposed top lip.

11

What temperature range is SlabCollar rated for?

SlabCollar is rated from −55 °C to +125 °C.

12

Where can I buy SlabCollar?

SlabCollar is sold through authorized distributors: RadonDepot and Radon Detect in Canada. Your distributor has contractor pricing.
